It is with a sad and
lonely heart that I
will try to
write the
obituary of our Daddy,
Bill Duty. Billy Gordon
Duty was born on
January 15, 1935
and departed
on January 15,
2005, making his stay
here on this earth
70 years. He was
the son of the late
John Bunyon and
Bessie McClanahan
Duty. He was a
life long resident of Buchanan
County and was of
the Old Regular
Baptist faith. He was a retired
coal miner,
however, he worked as a
welder right up to the time he
was diagnosed
with cancer and was no
longer able to work. Daddy
was a hard worker
and a good
provider.
He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Jean Farmer
Duty, and by his
second wife, Lenna
Pearl Colley Duty. He was also
preceded in death
by three sisters:
Ethel Duty, Fern Duty, and Irene
Duty Mason.
He leaves
behind to mourn three children, Teresa Duty Daughterty,
John Duty and
Billy (Charlie) Duty;
four grandchildren, Dustin
Daugherty,
Chasitie Daughtery, Lora
Gale Duty and Tiny Beth Duty;
two sisters, Nell
Duty Woodrum and
Agnes Duty Mabe; and a host
of family and
friends.
All through
his sickness, Daddy never complained, and he managed
to stay in good
spirits. He had a
heart full of love toward everyone.
He knew God’s
will would be done.
Our Daddy believed in
Jesus and feared
God. I believe
Daddy is now resting.
