With
a sad and broken heart I will try to write an
obituary of a
beloved husband, daddy and papaw,
Bruce Deel. Dad
was born on June 15, 1939 to the late Bird
Radford and
Virtie Deel of Haysi, Virginia. He passed
away on May 12,
2005, making his stay here on earth 65 years, 10 months
and 27 days.
He married
Margaret Jane Yates on May 3, 1958, being together
for 47 years. To
this union 3 children were born, Theda Frances Stiltner
of Dickson,
Tennessee, Gregory Bruce Deel, who preceded him in
death, and Marvin
Scott Deel of Abingdon, Virginia. Others who
mourn our loss
are one brother, Carl Deel, of Haysi, Virginia, 6
grandchildren,
4 great
grandchildren, son-in-law, Jerry Stiltner, and daughter-
in- law, Lou Deel.
Dad was a retired coal miner and a member of
the UMWA District
28. He enjoyed
visiting and talking with family and friends.
Daddy touched
everyone who knew him. Everyone was a friend,
even people he
hadn’t met yet.
Daddy knew he wouldn’t get any better. He
would be up and
down all thru the
night reading his Bible and watching over Mommy.
They would have
long talks. When both were able they would go
riding in the
car, but for the last six months he just wasn’t able to
drive. He would
talk about fishing, hunting and the good old days.
He wanted to see
the babies and go to church.
Daddy’s health became worse and he never
complained. He was
the type who
wanted to take care of others and not for us to do for
him. He would
tell us children we better straighten up and do right,
that he was
alright.
I believe the morning the death angel came,
Daddy really was
doing alright.
Now he is in no more pain or fighting to get a breath.
He is in a place
where there are no more machines.
Family and friends will miss Dad but Mom will
miss him the
most. We all love
our sweet memories that no one can take from us.
So sleep on,
Daddy, in your peaceful sleep. We will meet again someday
in that wonderful
place where there is no more pain and sorrow.
Written by his broken hearted daughter, Theda
Stiltner.
