This is my friend.
“His mouth is most sweet;
yea, he
is altogether
lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my
friend.”
Ikey’s friends
are everywhere.
He showed himself friendly, and it shows, not
only with his
peers, but also with the old and young.
Ikey was born on
October 29, 1971 into the home of Ronnie and
Hester Back. He
passed from this life on April 20, 2005, making his
life on earth 33
years, 5 months and 22 days. As a young man he
loved and married
Shirley Fields. He loved her and he was the love
of her life. To
this union was born one son, Andrew Walker Back,
and two
daughters, Sydney Blair Back and Allison Daryl Back.
Ikey and Shirley
were almost lifetime sweethearts. They were
never more close
than the last days of his life.
Ikey was a kind and loving young man. He loved
the outdoors.
He loved his
friends and he loved sports.
Byron was Ikey’s
best friend and Ikey was Byron’s best friend.
He had a special
place in his heart for Lillie and Hattie and I D and
Ina Rose.
In addition to Ronnie, Hester, Byron and his
wife, Kristi, and
niece, Morgan
Taylor Back, Ikey is survived by a multitude of aunts,
uncles, cousins,
friends, schoolmates, and fellow workers. When has
it ever been that
so many hearts are broken? But none have lost so
much as Allison,
Andrew, Sydney and Shirley.
There’s a lovely spot not far away where peace
abounds. There
are flowers
blooming there. The trees have answered the call of the
master. That
place is sad and lonely to us, but the birds sing there all
the time.
Someday, it may be soon, “the Lord himself shall descend
from Heaven with
a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with
the trump of God:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we
which are alive
and remain shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to
meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
the Lord.” Awake
and sing.
