
Martha Adams Colley
passed away on Wednesday,
August 17, 2005
at her home. Martha was born on
March 12, 1914 to
the late John and Larrena Roark
Adams. She was
from a large family of 4 brothers
and 7 sisters.
She was the last survivor of this generation.
She was born and raised in the Jeremiah area
and lived her
entire life in
Jeremiah.
She became a member of the Blair Branch
Regular Church in1953.
She was one of
the first members of the church. Martha loved going
to church. Later
in her life she became sick and lost her eye sight and
wasn’t able to
attend as she would have loved to. She loved for
members from
church to come and fellowship with her and have
preaching and
singing at her home.
Martha is survived by 4 daughters: Cornie
Adams of Jeremiah,
Lola Mae
Richardson of Hindman, Louise Bear of Whitehouse, TN
and Norlena York
of Hendersonville, TN; and 6 sons: Bill Colley of
Indianapolis, IN,
Folice Colley of Commiskey, IN, Von Colley, James
Colley and
Garland Colley, all of Jeremiah, and Gillis Colley of Gray,
TN. She had 37
grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 4 greatgreat
grandchildren.
She also raised two of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John
and Larrena Roark
Adams, 4
brothers, 7 sisters, her husband, Elmer Colley, and one
daughter, Barbara
Ann Colley.
